The Kindle 2 was released in 2009, not too long after the original Kindle. The Kindle 2 is also said to be more appealing to the eye. “Amazon's new and improved digital-book reading device does enough right that it could become the Model T of e-readers, capturing the imagination--and discretionary spending--of the masses” (Quittner, 2009) . The Kindle 2 is said to be a major upgrade from the previous Kindle it is “sleeker, more pleasant to touch and easier to read, and the battery lasts forever” (Francis, 2011) . The only thing that distinctly stayed the same was the size of the screen. The Kindle 2 is also helping with saving the planet. It is reducing the risk of deforestation; therefore fewer books are being used.
